Third Eye Blind Joins Classic Rockers For 'Knight's Tale'
(5/9/01, 12 p.m. ET) -- "Eye Conqueror," Third Eye Blind's newest studio track, arrived in stores yesterday (May 8) as part of the soundtrack to A Knight's Tale. The song is the only one on the collection by a current hitmaking band--the brunt of the album is classic rock hits such as Heart's "Crazy On You," Bachman-Turner Overdrive's "Takin' Care Of Business," and Queen's "We Will Rock You."
Third Eye Blind bassist Arion Salazar tells LAUNCH that he's pleased with that distinction. "That soundtrack is like all these amazing old rock tunes, it's even got Sly & the Family Stone on it, and then us. I don't know if there's any other new bands, I don't think there is. It's kinda like a cool place to be," he says.
"Eye Conqueror" is also the first song to be released by the band to feature new guitarist Tony Fredianelli, who took over for Kevin Cadogan last year after Cadogan was dismissed. Salazar tells LAUNCH that it's great to have Fredianelli around--not just for his talents, but for his partying skills as well. "Me and him we're like, we're not the Toxic Twins but, like, he's a little more on my level and, like, we get into a lot of trouble together and it's nice to have a partner in crime this time around."
This is actually Fredianelli's second stint as Third Eye Blind's guitarist--he was a member of the group in its earliest days.
